There are no prerequisites for the Understanding Weight Loss Medications course, however this course is intended for fitness and wellness professionals who are interested in learning more about weight loss medications and looking to acquire knowledge and strategies to help their clients achieve their goals.

In Lesson 1 of this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of weight loss medications, specifically focusing on Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. You will explore their mechanisms of action, as well as the potential adverse effects, and contraindications associated with their use. Additionally, the lesson will cover the long-term implications of using these medications, including their impact on lean muscle mass and bone density. Finally, you will learn about the importance of lifestyle modifications, such as exercise and nutrition, in enhancing the effectiveness of these medications and promoting overall health and well-being.

In Lesson 2 of this course, you will delve into the critical role of how fitness and wellness professionals can help guide clients through their weight loss journeys. You will learn about the importance of dietary modifications tailored to individual clients, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrients while managing their weight effectively. The lesson will also cover the significance of physical activity, providing strategies to help clients incorporate exercise into their daily routines. Additionally, you will explore lifestyle behavioral coaching techniques, which are essential for supporting clients in making sustainable changes to their habits and behaviors, ultimately leading to long-term success in their health and wellness goals.

In Lesson 3 of this course, you will learn about the important considerations and strategies for clients who are discontinuing weight loss medications. This lesson will provide insights into managing the transition for clients coming off these medications, ensuring that clients maintain their progress and continue to achieve their health goals. Additionally, the lesson will conclude with key takeaways that summarize the essential points from the entire course, reinforcing the knowledge and skills you have gained to effectively support clients in their weight loss journeys.

After completing the course, you will take an online final exam. The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to score 70% or higher. There is no time limit for the exam and unlimited attempts allowed.

This course is intended for fitness and wellness professionals who are interested in learning more about weight loss medications and gaining strategies to support clients’ overall well-being during medically assisted weight loss.

The course examines glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) medications approved for diabetes mellitus and weight loss, such as Ozempic®, Rybelsus®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® to name a few.

This course is delivered completely online and can be accessed at any time. You will have five (5) years from the day of enrollment to complete the course.

After completing the course, you will take an online final exam. The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to score 70% or higher. There are unlimited exam attempts available and no time limit for the exam.

A certificate of completion will be provided to you once you have passed the final exam with a 70% or higher.
